  • Always-festive town, Asakusa

    Asakusa is the center of Tokyo’s shitamachi (literally “low city”), one of Tokyo’s districts, where an atmosphere of past decades survives. This area is one of the most famous temple towns in Japan and you can see how it has been flourished with the Senso-ji Temple and also famous shopping street called “Nakamise”. You can buy whatever you want and eat while strolling the lively town.

  • Tempura Cooking Class

    You will learn to cook Tempura Gozen (set meal), Japanese authentic meal that comes with Tempura, Miso soup and dipping sauce along with Japanese dessert with English-speaking instructor.

  • Matcha Warabi Mochi Making

    Instructor will teach you how to make warabimochi, a traditional Japanese dessert made from bracken starch, soybean flour and topped off with syrup with using ingredients kit.

  • Complementary Shochu Tasting

    Finish your experience having lunch and with a sampling of 5 different Shochus (Japanese National alcohol) of various ingredients such as rice, barley, brown sugar, sweet potato and mango. Shochu is different than “Sake” as it is distilled while sake (called Nihonshu in Japan) is a brewed rice. You can enjoy Shochu not only on the rocks or straight, just like whiskey, but also with soda and juice which is called Sour Coktail. 

Tour Overview

  • 10:00 am Meet up

    Meet up with your guide in front of KAMINARIMON KOBAN (police box) nearby Kaminarimon Gate.

  • Asakusa Shopping Street

    Explore Nakamise Shopping Street with your tour guide. Enjoy a walk-and-eat and shop lots of different kinds of souvenirs!

  • 10:30 am Sensoji Temple

    After approx. 30 mins walking, the tour guide will take you to the temple’s main hall of Sensoji Temple, where people make a wish and pray, after stop at two holy places about water and smoke to refresh your mind and body with learning local etiquette from the guide.  You can also experience a fortune slip (omikuji) with the guide’s instruction at the main hall.

  • 11:00 am move to cooking studio by train

    After approx. 1 hour walking around Asakusa area, let’s get on subway Ginza line, the oldest metro in Japan, to head to our cooking studio in Nihonbashi, where is also very traditional area and close to Tokyo station or Ginza district.

  • 11:30 am Cooking Class

    Arrive to the cooking studio and learn how to cook Tempura Gozen meals with a professional instructor.

  • Tempura and Miso-soup

    Fry vegetables and shrimp in a Japanese manner.

  • Japanese sweets making

    Learn how to make warabi mochi, a traditional Japanese dessert made from bracken starch, soybean flour and topped off with syrup with using ingredients kit.

  • 13:00 pm Tour ends

    Finish your cooking session by enjoying your creation at the table. Get the cooking recipe in English to take back home.
